To the Citizens of Stickney,
It has come to the attention of the Stickney Board of Trustees that several motor vehicles are in violation of the Stickney Town Ordinance. If your motor vehicle is in violation please take the correct action to get your vehicle in compliance or remove it from the city limits.
Town of Stickney Ordinance States:
5.0605– Junk Motor Vehicle Defined
a. A “motor vehicle” is any truck, automobile, snowmobile, motorcycle, tractor, farm vehicle, motor home, or other vehicle designed or ever modified to be propelled by power other than muscular power.
b. A “junk motor vehicle” is any motor vehicle as defined in sub-section 1 of this section which is:
i. Not mechanically sound to the extent of being drivable on its own power.
ii. Not drivable by reason of flat or un-inflated tires or the removal of any part necessary for the safe operation of the vehicle.
iii. Any motor vehicle required to be registered by state law as a condition of being operated on public highways that is not currently registered and displaying a current registration plate.
5.0606 & 5.0607 – Parking of Junk or Abandoned Motor Vehicles on Public Rights of Way Prohibited
c. No person shall park any junk or abandoned motor vehicle or permit any junk motor vehicle owned by him to be parked on any street, alley, or other public right of way in the Town of Stickney.
5.0608 – Parking of Junk Motor Vehicle on Private Property Prohibited: Exceptions
No person shall park any junk motor vehicle or abandoned motor vehicle or permit any junk motor vehicle or abandoned motor vehicle or related metal owned by him to be parked on any private property except:
a. If it is stored in a fully enclosed garage, shed or other sound structure which is fully enclose;
b. If it is parked inside an enclosure fence;
c. If it is intended in good faith by the owner to be repaired, a junked motor vehicle or abandoned motor vehicle, may be parked on a private property for a period not to exceed 120 consecutive days.
